Introduction


This picture shows Audie Murphy during war. During World War II, Audie Murphy became the most decorated soldier for combat action in military history of the U.S. He was such a great soldier that he was asked to be transferred to West Point. Audie thought he was not qualified because he did not finish grade school. The 20 artifacts will be told from the perspective of Audie Murphy's dog tags.

Audie Murphy Saves The Day

In this Newspaper Article, it tells how Audie Murphy saves the day on January 26th 1945. He climbs a burning tank destroyer and employed its 50 caliber machine gun against the enemy, having a lot of confidence because he could have blown up at any moment. Audie Murphy's actions led him and 3rd Infrantry Division to win the Medal Of Honor.

Audie Murphy's Eisenhower Jacket

Audie Murphy's military Eisenhower style jacket on display at the Smithsonian Museum of American History.
This picture shows Audie Murphy's khaki "Eisenstein" type field jacket. The ribbons that are attatched above the left pocket are the Medal of Honor, Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart. He wore it when he was a Second Lieutenant.

On display at the Smithsonian Museum of American History, this picture shows Audie Murphy's World War II New Testament bible. Like me, Audie took his bible everywhere. Audie Murphy carried his New Testament bible for years even though the cover of the bible had faded.

Audie Murphy's Death


  This article tells how Audie Murphy died in a plane crash. He died on May 28th 1971. His death took place on a Friday when he was on his way on a business trip from Atlanta to Martinsville, VA. After his death, i was given to his family, who then gave me to a museum.

Audie Murphy's Awards Of WWII

In this picture, Audie Murphy is shown to be wearing all these medals he won in World War II. He won twelve medals. Five Medals he is wearing was awarded by the U.S. for Valor. He won the Congressional Medal of Honor, the Distinguished Service Cross, the Silver Star (two awards), the Legion of Meri, and the Bronze Star. The other seven medals Audie Murphy won were Purple Heart with two Oak Leaf Clusters (three purple hearts), Combat Infantry Badge, Distinguished Unit Citation. He won the Chevalier of the Legion of Honor, Two Croix Guerre with Palm, Fourragere, and the Honorary Membership Badge also.
